Queensland

Queensland is the destination of choice for most Australians to go on holiday. Think of it as the Majorca of Australia, only without the huge noisy crowds and with the added minor attractions of the Great Barrier Reef, endless miles of beautiful white sandy beaches, exotic palm fringed islands to sail lazily around, and acres of heritage listed tropical rainforest to explore. Not convinced? Add to the list a truly modern, vibrant capital city in Brisbane, the famous colourful sand dunes of Fraser Island, whale watching giant humpback whales in Hervey Bay and a trio of screaming theme parks to satisfy your inner child.

Queensland has warm subtropical climate which means it’s pretty comfortable all year round. Outdoor activities feature strongly throughout the state, much of which centres around water sports, horse back riding, hiking, fishing, sailing and sky diving. For a more relaxed approach, Queensland is also renowned for its healing spas using a combination of ancient and modern treatments in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings.

With a population of approximately 4.5 million, Queensland has 27 major hospitals supported by an extensive network of health care centres and clinics. Many of these hospitals work as referral and teaching hospitals with a broad range of general and surgical subspecialties available in select locations.
